Hyatt Indian Wells Resort Tour

Hyatt Indian wells resort

Every year for my eldest daughter’s birthday, we take a trip somewhere new. My husband and I want our kids to be well-traveled by the time they become adults, so we thought it would be a cool idea to take them on a memorable trip every year for their birthdays. This year was going to be our youngest daughter’s first birthday trip. But, because of Covid, we had to change our plans a bit. We have not been able to travel with our kids the way we usually would. Our youngest, Harper, is only one and was born during the mandated quarantine, so she has not had the opportunity to travel by air just yet. We wanted to give her the “traveling” experience without having to fly anywhere. So, I got down to business and started researching some fun hotels where we could celebrate that would be close enough to drive but far enough to feel like a vacation.

I booked at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort Hotel in Indian Wells, CA. For those who are not familiar with the location of hotels in Indian Wells, CA, the area is near Palm Desert and La Quinta. The Hyatt Indian Wells Resort is a 4-star hotel that offers exceptional views and fun for the entire family.

I will share information about the Hotel and how our experience was staying there.

The Hotel:

They offer both valet parking and self-parking. We opted to valet, which is a $15 daily charge.

The Hotel has a beautiful Fitness Center, Spa, and Golf Course. They also have three beautiful tennis courts, if you love to play tennis. The Hotel offers a shuttle service that will take you to and from your hotel room if you do not want to walk. I loved the shuttle service option. Walking can become exhausting because of how hot it is in the desert.

Our Room:

We booked a 2-bedroom villa so there would be enough space for the family to stay together. The room was a great size, about 1,500 sq ft, and both bedrooms came with a bathroom. The living room had a dining table and a small kitchen with supplies and a Keurig coffee maker. The villa also had a backyard/patio equipped with lawn chairs, a plunge pool, a barbecue grill, and an eating area. We went to the nearby grocery store to purchase food to grill and enjoyed the room’s outdoor amenities. Grilling in the outdoor space is an excellent idea if you traveled with a large group or with children. The bedrooms also have good closet space. Both bedrooms have televisions, and the living room has a 65”-inch TV with free Wi-Fi throughout the villa.

Pool:

The pool and waterpark were the main reasons we came to this Hotel. Let me say it did not disappoint. The kids had a ball. The Hotel has two 30ft slides and a 450ft lazy river known as the Hyatt Indian Wells Water Park. They also offer a water play area, kiddie pool, and slide for toddlers. You can also rent cabanas that come equipped with a television and waiter to serve your group. Adjacent to the Waterpark is an adult-only pool. The adult pool is where you can get away from the kids or if you came without kids. They have cabana rentals, music, and a bar in the adult-only area. They also do themed family movie nights at the pool during specific seasons. We were lucky enough to be staying there during a time when they offered it. Call the Hotel beforehand to find out about their movie night schedule.

Shopping Spots:

There are multiple areas all over the Hotel where you can purchase clothes, jewelry, cosmetics, and souvenirs. You can buy items like bathing suits, hats, electronics, candy, beer, snacks, drinks, and water. There is a coffee machine in the rooms, but there is also the option to buy it.

Fitness Center:

The Hotel has a Fitness Center. It is perfect for the Fitness enthusiast who cannot miss a single day’s exercise. The gym has a variety of dumbbells in different weights and a fair number of cardio machines. They also have a yoga room.

Spa:

In the Indian Wells Hotel and Spa, the Spa was closed due to Covid precautions. I am sure they have probably reopened by now, but I did not get the chance to check out the Spa while I was there. I heard great things about it. Next time I go, I will book a service and drop my review on “Indian Wells Resort and Spa.”

Where did we eat?

We spent most of our time eating at the café that was in the waterpark area. You can order food at the pool, and the waiters will deliver it to where you are sitting. We did that most of the time because it was convenient since we had the kids with us. The food was surprisingly good. They also had a Dippin’ Dots stand where you could choose from a variety of flavors.

For Harper’s birthday dinner, we opted to leave the Hotel. We went to a restaurant called Tommy Bahama’s. We ate at this restaurant before in Hawaii, so when I saw they had a location in the area, I was excited to check it out. The food there is fantastic. If you have never been, it is one you will not want to miss.

What to do in Indian Wells?

If you love hiking the mountains, you can visit the San Jacinto Mountains for an incredible experience before coming to Indian Wells Hyatt Regency Hotel.

You can also visit Joshua Tree, the famous Coachella Valley, or shop at nearby outlets. If you have children with you, they have a nearby Zoo and the Children’s Discovery Museum. If you traveled without children or have someone who can watch them, then the nearby Casinos are a fun getaway to experience. We drove out to Morongo Casino for a few hours to gamble without the kids.

Would I recommend the Hotel to you?

My family and I had a wonderful time. I cannot wait to go back, maybe with a larger group next time. If you have kids, this is a go-to hotel. The location, food, staff, and water park are not ones to be missed.
